First Aid – Refresher (FA-R)

Course Overview

GWO First Aid Refresher (FA-R) is designed to refresh delegates with theGWO First Aid Refresher practical skills and knowledge previously acquired from attending an initial GWO First Aid course.  The course ensures delegates maintain the ability to administer prompt, safe and effective first aid in the wind industry, and in a wind turbine environment, in accordance with GWO training standards.  The training includes combination of theoretical and practical exercises.

Course Objectives

Delegates completing a GWO First Aid Refresher training course will be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of:

  • The psychological effects of first aid for a first aider
  • Sudden sickness and environmental factors (e.g. chemical, air quality, dust, pollen, gases, poisonous animal bites etc.)
  • Types of trauma
  • Incident management and situational awareness
  • Managing and administering first aid during complex incidents with several (2-5) casualties

Course Content

A GWO First Aid Refresher training course includes;

  1. Legislation and guidelines, global and regional
  2. Risk assessment and accident reporting
  3. Anatomy, structure, functions and symptoms
  4. Use of first aid principles in emergency situations
  5. Serious and minor illness, injuries and incidents
  6. Management of an incident
  7. Lifesaving first aid
  8. Safety procedures
  9. Psychological first aid
  10. Demonstration of first aid equipment’s


In order to complete a GWO First Aid Refresher training course, delegates must hold:

  • A valid GWO First Aid certificate

GWO certificate – valid for 2 years
